A year? Almost a year with no update? Well, that's just ain't right.
And what's even more sad is that nothing new is happening. Seriously, am I that boring???

Who are you again? Oh, that's right. You're the owner of this blog. Sometimes life just gets away from you, you know. Turn around, and it's 6 months since you last updated.
Truthfully, we're all fine. More of the same. Carter growing and getting into mischief. Travis playing tennis (though motorcycle season is almost upon us). I'm working on writing and editing projects. I won't say we lead a boring life, but it's not different. We're not jaunting out of town each weekend. This weekend, we may go to the zoo or take Carter for a haircut. The possibilities are endless. And I like... (more)

Since it's fall and UT football has returned looking like the Vols of old (thank you, David Cutcliffe), I'm remembering fondly some of my most favorite moments with the UT Band. I got a call from Mo tonight. She's been teaching in Georgia and is in town for Homecoming. So I sort of blame her for this ;)
As an instructor, Homecoming was always stressful. Trying to coordinate everything, make sure all Alumni members were accounted for (and had flags and charts), keep current members focused on the task at hand, remember my own suit, pantyhose and uncomfortable shoes. Then again, until I... (more)

I had thought it had been months and months and months since I updated -- only April. That's not too bad.
Nothing new going on with me (or us) which is probably why there hasn't been an update. Carter will be 2 next month and man, can he throw a temper tantrum! He's a sweet boy the majority of the time though, and gives the best hugs! I'm writing and editing. Travis is playing tennis. So....same things we were doing a couple of months ago.
Maybe the next update will be before October.....

I had a post, was going to include pictures of Carter, and it vanished! Witty moment gone, here's a picture of Carter from the zoo and Riley's party, and one from the weekend at our house.

On the cover of today's News Sentinel, there's an article about a mural in the University Center. The mural depicts music across Tennessee, and is somewhat controversial (and/or stereotypical) in its depiction of the music from Memphis. I sped read the article this morning and I swear it comes across like this mural was just recently discovered hiding beneath the paneled walls of the UC. Guess what??? This mural was "discovered" less than 10 years ago. I remember because I kept the Daily Beacon article revealing how the mural had been covered up because of its controversial/stereotypical... (more)

Not really -- time just got away from me. I hate it when that happens!!
When I mentally click off the list of what I've been doing for the past month, I haven't been doing that much. Working, editing, writing, spending time with Carter, Travis and Linda (T's mother), reading.
Speaking of reading, I recently read How to Kill a Rock Star by Tiffanie DeBartolo. Saundra, you've got to read it! (Well, all of the 3 people that read this blog have got to read it). I was skeptical because it's billed as chick lit and I don't read much chick lit because....well, no use getting into what I think... (more)

Character Name Poll

Since most of us are "guardies" and have preconceived notions of majorettes, I need some help naming a main character -- who will be a majorette. I've thought of a young adult mystery series set in the world of band. I'm not sure what she does, but the main character's (the majorette) best friend will be named Sasha.
Which name sounds most like it belongs to a majorette?
Maisie
Chelsea
Madison (Madi)
Zoey
Becca

Catching Up

This will be a bit of a catch-up post. I'm not uber-busy per se, just several things happening.
First, Carter is 18 months, which I cannot believe. It just doesn't seem like he should be that old. He's growing way too fast! I took him to the doctor on Friday. Doc asked if Travis was a football player because Carter is apparently quite stout. Doc said Carter would either be a football player or wrestler.
Carter is also 'talking' more. At least I pretend he's talking. He makes sounds and I reply with what I think he said. He did say "roll ball" last weekend (he spent almost the... (more)
